Good to know

What counts as a word. Your browser's own language rules decide where one word ends and the next begins, so "don't" and "3.5" each count as one word, while a hyphenated compound like "state-of-the-art" counts as its four parts.

Reading time assumes 220 words per minute, an average adult silent reading pace for everyday prose. Read aloud, or read something dense, and it will take longer.

Title Case keeps six small words lowercase: of, the, and, a, in, to. The first and last word of every line are always capitalized, even when they are on that list.

Characters counts everything, including spaces, punctuation, and line breaks. The "no spaces" tile drops every space, tab, and line break.

Undo holds one step. Each cleanup or case change saves the text as it was right before, so you can always get back to the version you just had.

Check for yourself that nothing is sent anywhere

You don't have to take our word for it. Every browser has a built-in panel that shows everything a page sends or receives over the internet. On a computer (this doesn't work on a phone):

1. Press F12, or right-click anywhere on this page and choose Inspect.
2. In the panel that opens, click the Network tab.
3. Now use the tool: paste some text into the box and watch the counts change.
4. Watch the Network list. Nothing appears, because your text is never sent anywhere. Every count and every conversion happens on your own computer.
