Enter the bill, pick a tip, split it any number of ways. The tip, the total, and each person's share, worked out.
Each person pays
$0.00
The tip is figured on the bill, then the total is divided by the number of people. When the total does not divide into even cents, each share is rounded up to the next cent so the tip is always fully covered. The note under the big number tells you when that happened and how much extra the table collects.
Tip on the pre-tax bill is the common convention. This tool tips on whatever number you type in as the bill. If your receipt shows tax and you would rather tip on the pre-tax subtotal, enter that subtotal as the bill instead.
The presets start at 20%. Twenty, twenty-two, and twenty-four are the buttons; the custom box takes any percentage, including a half point, if you want something else.
Every step is shown. The bill times the tip rate, the total, and the division by the party size are all printed with your numbers in them, so the arithmetic can be checked rather than trusted.
