Type one word or phrase per line, add pictures if you want picture squares, pick a grid size, and choose how many cards to print. Each card is filled by shuffling your items and dealing them into the grid, so every card comes out different.
A 3 × 3 card needs 9 items, 4 × 4 needs 16, and 5 × 5 needs 25 (or 24 with a free space in the middle). Pictures count as items, so a list of 20 words plus 5 pictures fills a 5 × 5 card.
Each card is shuffled independently, so winners vary. More items than squares means the cards differ more; exactly enough items means every card holds the same set in a different order.
The call list keeps the game fair. It prints every item once in shuffled order with a box to tick, so the caller works through the same pool the cards were dealt from and nothing gets called twice.
Picture squares print best with simple, high-contrast pictures. A square gets about an inch of paper, so bold shapes read and busy photos turn to mush. Pictures are fitted inside the square, never cropped.
Printing: 3 × 3 and 4 × 4 cards print two to a page. 5 × 5 cards print one to a page, because two would squeeze the squares too small for picture items. The call list prints on its own page at the end.
